Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's the first artist of female gender for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The first album she released for the label on Oct. 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 with her release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. She continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. In the year 2015, she performed on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's reference. Later in the season, the music was circulating around Dreamville. The official signing ceremony was held to Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was her contribution to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The singer released Pho, her debut EP, on Oct 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was joined by EarthGang. In 2018, Ari Lennox guested on two tracks by EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 she released her debut single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video to accompany it came out on the 5th. Then, in November, she released two singles, 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November 2013 she dropped No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made appearances on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. In February of 2019 a music video was made available for the track. The track has received over 3 million views on YouTube in its initial week. In December 2018, she performed as a supporting act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
